Biography
George Tinley, son of Walter and Martha Tinley, formerly Brentnall, was born on the 30th December, 1797 the birth being registered in Ilkeston, Derbyshire. He married Ann Guiler at Ilkeston, Cotmanhay on 10th November 1822. George was employed as a Frame Work Knitter making cotton stockings in 1861. George died at the age of 60 years on the 13th May 1856 at George Street, New Basford. The cause of death was a carcinoma of the liver and had spent some time wasting away. His son Walter who was present when George died, registered the death on 2nd June 1856.
Ann Guiler's age at the time of the 1851 England census was 47, which indicates that her year of birth was 1804, at the time of the 1861 census her age is recorded as 59, making her birth year 1802. She was born in Basford, Cotmanhay. We have no record of her death.
At the time of the 1841 England Census there are six children living at their home in George Street, Basford, Nottingham. Mary, Eliza, Martha, George, Walter, and Emma.
