Thomas Samuel Tinley (1839 -
Biography
Thomas Samuel Tinley, son of Thomas and Betsy Tinley, formerly Slack, was born on the 30th November 1839 in Radford, Nottinghamshire. His birth was registered by his father Thomas Tinley on the 23rd December 1839. His parents obviously wanted the name Thomas to figure in the family, their seventh male child having also been named Thomas but dying at the early age of 17 months. At this time the family were living at 16 Pleasant Street, Hyson Green, Radford. At the time of the 1851 England Census he was aged 11 years and was living with his father and his second wife Mary at 24 Mt East Street, Radford in Nottinghamshire and was still a scholar.
At the time of the 1871 census Thomas was a Brewer
In the 1901 census we have a Thomas living at 37 Bell Barn Road, Balsall Heath in Birmingham aged 61, who was a widow, living on his own means. Living with him were a son Thomas aged 32, who was a Tin Plate Worker a daughter Emily M aged 31, a Domestic Cook and a daughter Rose Amelia aged 23, a French Polisher. Although Thomas senior was born in Nottingham, the children were all born in Birmingham.
Thomas Samuel married Eliza Mogford on 10th August 1867, Saint Phillips, Birmingham, Warwick, England (LDS). Born Newport, Monmouth.
