Walter Tinley (1837 -
Biography
Walter Tinley, son of John and Mary Ann Tinley, formerly Newton, was baptised on January 1st 1837, at Ilkeston, Derbyshire and at the age of 25 married Sarah Ann Heath on the 1st November 1862, in Birmingham. At the time of his marriage Walter was employed as a Tube Maker and resided at 21 Islington, Birmingham. By the time Walter retired he had become a Traveller for a bedstead mount manufacturer. Walter died at the age of 71 years on 23rd September 1908 at 46 Westfield Road, Acocks Green, Yardley, Birmingham from a Cerebral Haemorrhage. His son Francis Rowland registered the death on 25th September 1908. In 1874, at the time of his son Herbert’s birth Walter was employed as a Clerk in a Brass Factory, at the time of the 1901 census he was a Traveller in Brass Work. Sarah Ann Heath was born about 1837 in Birmingham. Sometime prior to the birth of his son Herbert William, Walter moved 64 miles South of his birthplace to Kings Norton. We have no record of her death as yet. Walter and Sarah Ann moved from Edwards Street, Kings Norton to 48 St Vincent Street, a mere 500 yards sometime between 1874 and 1881. They had at least three children as they were residing with him and his wife at their home, 48 St Vincent Street, Balsall Heath, Birmingham at the time of the 1901 census.
