Biography
Nelly Hancock Tinley, daughter of Richard and Sarah Jessie Harriett Tinley, formerly Hancock, was born on the 27th October 1875, at the family home Victoria Place, Mary Street, Kings Norton. The birth was recorded by her father on the 2nd December, 1875, at Kings Norton, county of Worcester. At the age of 22, on 25th December 1897, Nelly married Arthur James Russell age 21, at the Parish Church, in the Parish of Balsall Heath, Birmingham. At the time of her wedding Nelly was residing at 5 Bullimant Place, Vincent Street. Arthur James Russell, a Brassfounder by trade, was residing at 44 Vincent Street. Nelly’s father Richard was deceased at the time. Arthur James’s father, Samuel Russell, a Brassfounder was present at the wedding. Witnesses at the wedding were Arthur Henry Anderton and Nelly’s sister Jessie Harriett, who were to marry in 1905.
